Barry Brand brings 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience and over a decade of leadership in neuroscience drug development to CeNeRx. As Vice President, Global Commercial Strategy–Neuroscience at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Mr. Brand was responsible for the commercial development of GSK’s clinical-stage Neuroscience pipeline. He oversaw global commercialization for marketed CNS products including Paxil/CR®, Wellbutrin/XL®, Zyban®, Lamictal®, Imitrex® and Requip®. As Paxil Marketing Director, Mr. Brand managed GSK’s largest asset--achieving gross sales of $1.8 billion--and was recognized as one of Advertising Age’s Top 100 Marketers. Mr. Brand has managed multiple co-promotion/co-development partnerships and has extensive lifecycle management and market development experience. He received his B.S. degree from Texas A&M University.
Mark Baric has over 20 years of business experience as an entrepreneur and senior executive.
He successfully co-founded several startups including Nasdaq-traded Seer Technologies, which was formed as a joint venture between The First Boston Corporation and IBM. He served as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and then as Chief Operating Officer of SEER Technologies, managing worldwide operations and overseeing much of its growth. Mr. Baric has also served as the Chairman and CEO of several technology companies. He began his career as a CPA with PriceWaterhouse Coopers. Mr. Baric received a B.S. degree in accounting from Clarion University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Jim Free has successfully developed four start-up companies and has over 20 years of healthcare experience in business development, sales and marketing and regulatory and clinical strategy. Prior to CeNeRx, Mr. Free held management positions at Somerset Pharmaceuticals, directing the development and commercialization of the first FDA-approvable MAO inhibitor in decades. Mr. Free played a key role in the development and commercialization of a novel, next-generation MAO inhibitor (selegiline) for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, depression and other indications. Previously he was at Circa Pharmaceuticals, where he won key manufacturing contracts from major pharmaceutical partners and helped re-establish the company’s credibility with industry and regulators. Mr. Free received a B.S. degree in management from National–Louis University.
Dan Burch brings CeNeRx over 15 years of experience in the clinical development of new medicines at Abbott Laboratories, SmithKline Beecham and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). His most recent post at GSK was Senior Vice President and Head of the Neurosciences Medicine Development Centre, where he was responsible for building and managing the global neuroscience drug development portfolio and was accountable for delivering important CNS products for depression, movement disorders, pain and Alzheimer’s disease. Co-author of numerous scientific papers and inventor on multiple patents, Dr. Burch serves on the National Institute on Medicine's Forum on Neurosciences and Nervous System Disorders. Dr. Burch received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of South Carolina, his M.D. degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
