




Barry Brand (CEO & Board Director)
Mr. Brand brings 16 years of pharmaceutical experience with 11 years
Neuroscience experience. As VP, Global Commercial Strategy –
Neuroscience, GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK), Mr. Brand was responsible for
commercial development of GSK’s phase I – III Neuroscience pipeline. In
addition, Mr. Brand oversaw global commercialization for marketed CNS
products to include Paxil /CR, Wellbutrin /XL, Zyban, Lamictal, Imitrex and
Requip. As Paxil marketing director, Mr. Brand managed GSK’s largest asset
achieving gross sales of $1.8 billion and was recognized as one of Advertising
Age’s Top 100 Marketers (2000). An experienced executive, Mr. Brand has
managed multiple co-promotions / co-development partnerships and brings
extensive lifecycle management and market development experience.
Mark Baric (President & Board Director)
Mr. Baric has 20+ years of business experience with an MBA from the Wharton
School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He has successfully co-
founded several startups including Seer Technologies (NASD-SEER) which was
formed as a joint venture between The First Boston Corportation and IBM.
He served as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, and then the
Chief Operating Officer of SEER Technologies responsible for much of its
growth, managing worldwide operations including sales, services and customer
support. Additionally, Mr. Baric has served as the Chairman and CEO of
several technology companies including Virtus Entertainment and 2ThumbS
Entertainment. While at Virtus Entertainment he co-founded five companies,
including RedStorm Entertainment and Timeline Computer Entertainment. He
began his career as a CPA with PriceWaterhouse Coopers (formerly Coopers
and Lybrand).
Jim Free (Chief Operating Officer)
Mr. Free brings proven entrepreneurial success in the development of 4 start
up companies, Mr. Free brings 20+ years healthcare management experience
in business development, sales, marketing, regulatory and clinical strategy.
Most recent experience includes several management positions at Somerset
Pharmaceuticals supporting development and commercialization of the first
FDA-approvable MAOI for acute and chronic depression in decades. Mr. Free
was one of seven executives recruited to develop and commercialize a novel,
next-generation MAOI (selegiline) for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease,
Depression, ADHD, Smoking Cessation and Dependence. Additional experience
includes successes at Circa Pharmaceuticals winning key manufacturing
contracts from major pharma partners to re-establish agency & industry
credibility.
Dan Burch, MD (Exec VP, R&D; Chief Medical Officer)
Dan Burch brings CeNeRx 15+ years of developing new medicines at Abbott
Laboratories, SmithKline Beecham and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Most recently
at GSK as Sr. Vice President and Head of the Neurosciences Medicine
Development Centre. Co-author of numerous scientific papers and inventor on
multiple patents, Dr. Burch serves on the National Institute on Medicine's
Forum on Neurosciences and Nervous System Disorders. Dr. Burch received
his M.D. degree from Vanderbilt and an M.B.A. from Wharton.
K. Ranga Krishnan, MD (Co-Chair Scientific Advisory Board)
Dr. Krishnan serves as Professor and Chairman, Dept Psychiatry & Behavioral
Sciences, Duke University Medical Center. Honored extensively for his work
in the field and credited with 300+ publications, Dr. Krishnan brings extensive
drug development experience consulting with a number small and large
pharmaceutical R&D companies.
Charles Nemeroff, MD, PhD (Co-Chair Scientific Advisory Board)
Dr. Nemeroff serves as Professor & Chairman – Dept of Psychiatry & Behavioral
Sciences, Emory University School of Medicine. Recognized internationally
for his many scientific contributions and author of more than 500
publications, Dr. Nemeroff brings extensive drug development experience
consulting with a number small and large pharmaceutical R&D companies.
